Inviting artists to take part in African art exhibitions, workshops and community events

ArtQuay Gallery in Southampton is inviting applications from artists to take part in upcoming exhibitions, workshops, and community events. We welcome artists working in painting, drawing, mixed media, and related disciplines.

Opportunities

  • Exhibitions – group shows (themed) and potential solo/duo showcases
  • Workshops & Classes – opportunities to lead or collaborate on sessions for adults and community groups
  • Engagement Activities – artist talks, Q&A sessions, demonstrations, or community events

Benefits for Artists

  • Exhibition space in ArtQuay Gallery
  • Promotion such as in press releases, social media, or online listings
  • Sales opportunities (standard commission applies)
  • Networking with local communities, cultural partners, and other artists
  • Opportunity to build teaching or workshop experience

How it Works

  • Commission on sales: 25% (unless otherwise agreed)
  • Artists must provide an artist statement, images, and a short bio for promotion
  • Artists are asked to contribute at least one engagement activity (e.g. talk, demo, or Q&A)
  • ArtQuay Gallery provides hanging systems, basic promotion, as well as visitor welcome and supervision support during opening hours
  • Artists are responsible for transport, insurance, and framing of works

How to Apply

Please send the following to artists@artquay.com

  • A short artist statement (max 200 words)
  • Up to 5 images of your recent work (JPEG or PDF)
  • Your CV or short biography
  • Any ideas for workshops, talks, or community engagement activities
  • Your availability (dates for exhibitions or workshops)
