Meet the world’s largest lion sculpture by one of our own Dr Okay Ikenegbu

In 2020, ArtQuay executive director Dr Okay Ikenegbu accomplished a major milestone and enduring legacy as he designed and constructed Unity Park Enugu, a conservation Park of 90,044.56 sq meters (969,231.58 sq feet) with a total perimeter of 1.39 kilometre (4,560 feet) – primarily a site with a focus on outdoor and nature based outdoor recreation activities (including re-inforced concrete tracks approximately 1.9 kilometre).

Striking features in the Unity Park include:

(a) the Roaring Lion – monumental concrete (constructivist design) sculpture – 42 feet high, 72 feet long and 24 feet wide. Globally, it has been credited as the world Largest Lion Sculpture by Record Setter.

(b) Artificial Pond- total area of 1,587,877 sq metres; water coverage area of 1,270.04 sq meter; carved out dry area of 317,842 sq meters; depth of water of 4 feet (provides a favourable hydrodynamic environment for boat riding and ecosystem balance and desirable high level biodiversity).
